Because these are services that might interest students seeking writing  help, we decided to check them out. As always, we searched online and read PaperRater.com customer reviews. We also submitted an essay to be checked for quality. We even researched to determine ‘is paperrater.com a scam?’ Finally, we explored their website looking for interesting features or options.

Services Offered

Here, students simply paste in or upload papers. Then they answer some basic questions including grade level and type of assignment. The tool then scans and analyzes the text. It then returns feedback. This feedback includes spelling and grammar issues, formatting issues, writing suggestions, etc. There are no services beyond this, and no humans are involved in the process.

Quality of Products And Writing

We intentionally built some errors into the paper we submitted. There was a portion of the text that was copied directly from an article with no changes or citations. This was not caught as potential plagiarism. On the other hand, several spelling and grammatical errors were caught, but not all of them. The tool also marked text that was correct in error in a few places. The tool did not flag any stylistic issues. For example, we used the passive voice multiple times. This was not marked as being an issue.

Pricing And Discounts

There is a premium version of this tool. It is available for a monthly subscription fee of 7.95. We feel that PaperRater prices are fairly affordable. However, we don’t know if most students would really see any benefits from using the premium service. We looked for paperrater discount page, but could not find one. A search online for PaperRater.com coupon codes and Paperrater promo code did not get any hits.

Recommendations

So, is PaperRater legit? At the end of our Paper Rater review, we have concluded that it is perfectly safe to use these services. It appears as if the paid subscription service uses safe payment protocols as well. However, in spite of PaperRater.com testimonials, this is not really a service that we can endorse.

First, this is no substitute for the proofreading and editing services provided by humans at quality writing services. In addition to this, there are other machine based spelling, plagiarism, and grammar checkers also available for free. This seems to be inventing the wheel a bit. Worse, these tools appear to do a slightly better job at catching errors even if they don’t have the analytical features. While students may wish to use this on minor assignments, we urge them to find a quality writing service for their most important work.
